When I joined the first cohort, I simply wanted to build a writing habit, more importantly, a consistent writing habit.

When I joined the first cohort, I simply wanted to build a writing habit, more importantly, a consistent writing habit.

I started to put 2 and 2 together and realized that writing is the foundation for everything.

Backstory

I started as a Project Manager (PM) in 2010-11, and every part of my job was writing. I was doing it subconsciously without actually understanding what I was doing, without any particular structure, and I always questioned, "Will someone understand this?". I re-read and re-wrote everything 15x before I would let someone else see it. The imposter syndrome and fear were real.

3 obstacles

I wanted to overcome:

  • Imposter syndrome.
  • Writing confidence.
  • Build a consistent writing habit.

Because I knew it would lead to:

  • Decongesting my brain.
  • The ability to share my experiences from my entrepreneurial journey.
  • Better communication.
  • Building my personal brand.
  • And a ton of other benefits.

A Gateway To Sharing My Journey

Writing has led me to double down on building my personal brand and share my experiences. With over ten years of entrepreneurship under my belt, I have been through many different obstacles, wins, and life lessons. I knew that podcasting wouldn't be the only way I could share my knowledge and experiences; I needed writing in my life.

During my last cohort, my #1 goal was to ship 30 pieces of writing. I didn't care how bad they were; it was time to drop my guard and just hit publish. I dedicated myself to the process of building consistency (through writing).

This time, I get to help other ship30 members start their journey to build a consistent writing habit through a mentorship program.

A Friendly Reminder

In the late nights, when you don't have the energy, the creativity, or the mental capacity to do anything, you have to sit down and write.

To all those on the ship30 journey:

  • Be consistent.
  • It's ok to be a novice.
  • When you are on the verge of skipping a day, don't.
  • Constantly work on your writing endurance.
  • Keep a running list of ideas when you don't feel creative.
  • Find an accountability partner or group.

Happy Shipping and good luck on your journey!
